AI War 2:Zenith Miners

Zenith Miners - Every so often they will enter the galaxy and eat planets. They can attack any planet that’s not a player or AI homeworld.

Zenith Miners can only be targeted by the player. If you don’t kill them in time they just plain destroy the planet, it goes away like you crashed a Nomad Planet into it.
The only exception is the Dyson Sphere, which remains a planet on the galaxy map, but the background is now the wreckage of the sphere. If the Militant Dyson is attacked by a Miner then it gets much weaker as the dyson is eaten, giving the player an opportunity to take out the Miner without a giant dyson fleet fighting too. If the player doesn’t save the Militant Dyson, the dyson faction continues to play on, but it’s home Dyson Warp Gate is now killable, so you/the AI/nanocaut/etc can actually kill .
The Miners will be careful about which planets to attack; they will have a high % for “target a planet w/o any desirable player objectives on it”, and “choose planet in easy range of player”, and so on, so it won’t feel unfair. They probably won’t be allowed to target planets with objectives you really want except for on very high intensity.
This is much closer to the AIWC miners, but actually killing the planet is pretty cool. This way still we get a cool “big visual planet change for the trailer” but it’s just one model instead of needing to make you do a ton of work on visuals that don’t affect gameplay.
Intensity governs the rate miners appear and which planets they are more likely to attack.
