General Mechanics
Each player slot that is assigned a champion will receive a Shadow Frigate at the start of the game. These can gain experience and level up like heroes in RPGs - each level grants one upgrade point to unlock modules for the ship itself. Normal+champion players can also receive certain technologies with upgradable modules that are improved with these unlocks.
