How Does Radar Dampening Work?
A: Ships that have radar dampening are unable to be shot by ships that are further than X away, where X is their dampening range. So, a lower range is better (sometimes much better).
Important note: Radar Dampening is a per-ship ability that affects all shots incoming against that ship. Various scouts, guard posts, etc, have this to protect themselves from distant attacks. This is completely different from -- and unrelated to -- the mechanic called Radar Jamming, which is an effect emitted by special Radar Jammer structures against all enemy ships in the current system.
