Creates a mostly-immobile force field that provides protection for nearby ships Ships firing out from under the human Force Fields do 75% less damage then normal, so it is best to build defenses around the field. Lightning Turrets and Flak Turrets are not as affected by this penalty and only do 25% less damage. AI Force Fields are better tuned and do not reduce the attack power of the units they protect. Bombers has a substantial bonus against these and other fortified targets. Some units, which have the Immunity: Force Field and move and fire through enemy force fields as if they are not there. Ships with the Immunity: Force Field are still protected by, and suffer the damage penalty, when covered by a friendly force field. A higher Mark Force Field givers a larger area of protection for nearby ships. As a Force Field is damaged, its radius of protection shrinks, so higher value units should be placed closer to the center of the field. |

Hardened Force Field
A modulated Force Field that has less absolute health but effectively gains a very high Armor rating to resist damage form incoming enemy fire.

How to use in your fleet
A purely defensive structure, these excel at keeping other units alive.
A useful trick is to build a Force Field on top of a wormhole to prevent ships from entering that wormhole, though a Force Field over a wormhole will not prevent ships from exiting that wormhole.
How to counter when in the AI fleet
Bring Bombers, the more the better.
Other units can bring down a Force Field but it will take significantly longer.
Units with Immunity: Force Field can be used to destroy units underneath a Force Field without destroying the force field first.
