The Necromancer

  • The Necromancer is another player type. It gets its power from killing enemy ships and raising them as the undead. They do not have great static defenses, and instead rely on powerful flagships.
  • The Necromancer is a powerful Neinzul Technomancer who has come to this part of the galaxy to harvest Life Essence from space-time Rifts.

Enemies

  • The Necromancer has two enemy factions that will appear in all Necromancer games. The Templar and the Elderlings.
  • The Templar are defenders of the Rifts, and strive to protect the civilzaations on the other side of the Rifts from being harvested by the ruthless Necromancer. They build defensive structures that will send ships out to fight their enemies, and also launch periodic attacks on the Necromancer
    • The Necromancer gets hacking and science from killing the Templar
  • The Elderlings are powerful Neinzul. Each Elderling is a very powerful creature. They periodically lay eggs which hatch into new Elderlings.
    • Elderlings are territorial, and their territory increases over time. They also will become more powerful over time
    • When elderlings are packed in too tightly, they will sometimes lose sanity and go mad. A maddened elderling will sometimes become hostile to everything, and sometimes leave its territory to just attack its enemies.
  • The Necromancer prizes the Elderlings as excellent sources of Life Energy, similar to the Rifts. By slaying an Elderling the Necromancer can claim its Essence.
    • The Necromancer can also hack Elderlings to take their form; by hacking and then killing an Elderling the necromancer will gain the ability to turn its Flagships into more powerful flagships similar to the slain Elderling

Necropolis

  • There are three other types of Necropolis, each performing different job for the Necromancer
    • Major Necropolis: Has a lot of build sockets and comes with its own Flagship. More expensive
    • Minor Necropolis: Cheaper, but has fewer build sockets and does not come with a Flagship. Instead, this will bolster an existing flagship
    • Defensive Necropoolis: Cheapest, and only can build defensive structures.
  • You can swap the location of two Necropoleis by hacking. Swapping the Phylactery is more expensive, and will happen automatically if the Phylactery would die and it can move anywhere

Resource

  • The Necromancer has 3 resources; Hacking, Science and Essence. Each are used for different things
    • Science is obtained by fighting the Templar. You use it to upgrade your ship lines via the Tech Menu
    • Hacking is primarily obtained by fighting the Templar. You use it for some hacks
    • Essence is primarily obtained from Rifts, and from Elderlings. You use it to upgrade your Necropoleis and Flagships

Necromancy

  • The Necromancer raises its slain foes via Necromancy; these are Summoned Units.
  • Strikecraft become Skeletons, Guardian-Tier units become Wights and Dire Guardian tier units become Mummies
  • By default, the necromancer has a relatively low cap of Skeletons/Wight/Mummies they can raise. By building structures, the Necromancer can get access to stronger summoned units, and can build more of them
  • Many structures that grant improved Summoned Units also grant "Bodyguard" units; these do not need to be raised via necromancy
  • The Necromancer can empower its fleets by building structures. There are
