Stage 1: New to Real-Time Strategy Games?

Welcome! Here you'll learn some useful skills on how to explore.
New to Real-Time Strategy games? In RTS games, as in Chess, "you" aren't represented by any ship in the game. You're a distant commander, looking down on the battles and issuing orders through a mobile camera that you zoom and pan.
TIP: If at any point you want to pause, press P. This works in regular games, too.

One of the most important commands in AI War is the Pause command.
With so many systems and units that will end up being under your control, being able to pause the game is an important method of keeping track of your units and to respond to the AI's attacks.
Note that the pause command is available in multi-player games as well. All players have control of the same pause button to globally pause and up-pause the game.

Stage 2: We've started you off with a scout

We've started you off with a scout in addition to your home command station.
VERY IMPORTANT: About Home Command Stations Home Command Stations are your most vital unit -- whichever team loses all of theirs first, loses the game. If this were Chess, your Home Command Station would be your king.

Home Command Stations are the central point of both your and the AIs empires.
You have to destroy the Home Command Stations of the two AIs that you are fighting in the galaxy while protecting your own.
If you start with multiple homeworlds, you will have multiple Home Command Stations, losing a single Home Command Station counts as losing the game.
In multiplayer when you lose your Home Command Station your empire will spawn a Home Core to act as your Home Command Station on a planet with another players Home Command Station.
Once all players have lost a Home Command Station, the game is lost. Note that the pause command is available in multi-player games as well. All players have control of the same pause button to globally pause and up-pause the game.
