What Are Orbital Mass Drivers?
A: Orbital Mass Drivers are a type of ion cannon that was introduced in the expansion The Zenith Remnant. These giant cannons pose little threat to smaller fleet ships, but really hit hard against larger structures such as golems and starships. Best to send in a smaller fleet of ships first to take out the mass driver, and then bring in the bigger ships. These mass drivers are one of the few main impediments to certain player golems rampaging too freely across the AI landscape; there tends to be one or more of these on the AI homeworlds and nearby planets, amongst other various locations.
