Metal

Metal

Metal is the primary resource in AI War. In order to build anything in AI War, one must have metal. It is obtained by building various levels of Harvester on planets. There is no 'limit' to the amount of Metal available in any game of AI War, though players will only be able to stockpile a limited amount of Metal (determined by the number and type of Command Stations a player has.

To increase the amount of metal income or gain additional metal, a player can do one of a few things-

Note that not all ships cost the same amount of metal per-cap. In some cases, it may be preferable to throw an entire fleet into the maws of the AI to save a few valuable high mark capital ships or expensive Mk IV units. Rebuilding an entire cap of Mk IV Bombers is the most surefire way to bankrupt your economy.

Metal costs are over time. This means that an example ship that costs 1200 metal and takes four seconds to build will cost 300 metal a second, as opposed to a flat cost upon beginning construction.

Player homeworlds will always have twelve metal deposits.

Crystal

Crystal

As of 7.011 Salvaged Resources, crystal has been merged with metal as a resource. While energy differences remain in ship costs, you'll no longer have to worry about having take planets just because you can't afford to make any high mark missile frigates. As a result, all costs and incomes related to harvesters have been doubled to compensate. All costs have been merged Metal + Crystal.
