When humans capture the planet on which this resides, they gain direct access to the core network of the AI, where they can greatly damage the AI's processing capabilities. Every 15 seconds, this decreases AI Progress by one, but as a side effect, this increases AI Progress Floor by 0.2. At each reduction the terminal will spawn AI ships (not always directly from the terminal) proportional to the amount of AI progress reduction from the terminal. For AI progress details, move the mouse cursor over the AI progress display at the top of the screen. Spawned ships are zombie bots, which are overly aggressive as well as being immune to reclamation. Past a certain point the terminal's response will probably become overwhelming, so make sure you are able to destroy the terminal before you lose control of the area or you will probably lose the game. (Note that this unit is not captured on planet ownership change and must be destroyed by fire from your fleet.) Destroying your command station on the planet does not stop the SuperTerminal from reducing AI Progress while spawning ships. (New in Patch 5.028) Activating the SuperTerminal by capturing the planet is considered Hacking by the AI and multiple Hacking attacks will increase the AI's response. |
