How to counter when in the AI fleet
The most notable trait of this guard post is that it is essentially a force-field with a LOT of health. However, the Heavy hull means that this one is susceptible to more ship-types - although it will still take some time to eliminate. An alternative is to take out all of the ships that it is protecting (either by baiting, or forcefield-immune weapons) and take over the planet (see below).
Particularly annoying in combination with AI Eyes.
N.B. If you are taking an AI planet, you don't have to go out of your way to kill leftover spire shield-sphere guard posts. After you complete your own command station, these guard posts will self-destruct if they are not protecting anything. If they do not, there is either a cloaked ship hiding underneath or something is wrong - please update us in the forums.
