This page is up to date for game version 6.010 |
Armored version of the standard Lightning Warhead. Harder for enemy ships to destroy due to the armor and the cloaking, so it is more likely to reach its target. Further, Armored Warheads can concentrate any amount of their force upon a single target, where Lightning Warheads have a maximum amount of damage they can do to a single target. Finally, the explosion of this warhead is so violent that no salvage is left for recovery. |
This unit is a Warhead. Specifically, it increases AI Progress by 2/4/6 (Mk. I/II/III) when destroyed.

How to use in your fleet
Just like the Lightning Warhead, the AIP cost of this kind of weapon might be considered in regard of the amount of time saved by its use.
Compared to its unarmored counterpart, the armored warhead has twice the AIP cost and requires much more metal. However, it's very resilient and has self-cloaking. However, the cloaking itself mustn't be the determining factor as regular lightning warheads can be cloaked thanks to a Cloaker Starship.
The true power of the armored warhead resides in its absence of per-unit damage cap. While the unarmored warhead can dispatch a small fleet as efficiently, it can only scratch the paint of a big target. One armored warhead, on the other hand, can destroy huge targets in one blast, such as Hunter/Killer, Dire Guardians and AI Golems.
