How to use in your fleet
These work the same as any other drone-spawning unit: stay at range and pound the enemy from a distance. Torpedoes have a fairly long lifespan, can be redirected after launch, and only need to stay alive long enough to reach their target in order to reach their maximum damage potential, so it's quite easy to saturate a whole planet with them.
How to counter when in the AI fleet
The AI is not supposed to have access to Lightning Torpedo Frigates, but due to a bug, sometimes does (Mantis).
