These oversized, automated alien ships fire lightning-fast energy bursts at long range. Depending on the mood of the Dyson Sphere when these are created, they may attack everyone, AIs only, or humans only.
Neutral Dyson Gatlings cannot shoot at Mark V targets. Neutral and Player-Ally Dyson Gatlings do not attack AI targets that could free AI ships (guard posts, command stations, etc). |
The Dyson Gatling is part of the Zenith Dyson Sphere Minor Faction and can only spawn if that minor faction is enabled. For more information on how this unit spawns, see the minor faction's dedicated page.
Note the '0 Command Grade' damage bonus is not present on Dyson Gatlings that are friendly to the AI and those Gatlings are very capable of killing players' command stations.
Friendly gatlings roam the accessible non-AI space and hunt down AI units. This means friendly gatlings will patrol on all Human and neutral planets accessible from the Sphere without crossing AI territory. If all planets adjacent to the Sphere's one are controlled by the AI, friendly gatlings will invade them. If there is only one Human or neutral planet adjacent, gatlings will patrol between these two planets by going back and forth through the wormhole linking them. It is advised to connect the Sphere's planet to the players' empire.
If AI Threat is consequent on an AI planet next to a planet accessible to gatlings, they may venture into AI territory and engage the Threat Fleet.
