These powerful science vessels can be found nearby or on the AI homeworlds. Capturing them will provide +5/s knowledge income on the archive's planet for all human players while the archive lives, up to a cap that is 3x that of the normal per-planet cap. Once all knowledge has been extracted the archive automatically self-destructs. If the archive is destroyed before that point, however, there is a +80 AI Progress cost. |

How to use in your fleet
Spire Archives can gather 9,000 K from a planet, but there are only two of them per galaxy and they are always located on planets two jumps away from the AI home worlds. This means that without Warp Jammer Command Stations the players must put one or more core worlds on alert for an extended period of time to extract the full amount.
In multiplayer games the owner of the archive should not place science labs on the archive planet as this can interfere with the knowledge gathering of other players. If the player owning the planet extracts 9,000 knowledge from the planet before the others, the archive will self destruct and render the remaining knowledge unobtainable by other players.
- whether this is a bug or not is not clear.
