Guardians
Guardians are AI reserved starship-like units. Unlike starships, they can't join regular waves and don't roam the planet they defend, instead staying with the dormant ships around the Guard Posts. They only attack if awakened and their role is mainly defensive; hence their name.

Dire Guardians
Dire Guardians are oversized versions of some regular Guardians. The AI doesn't use them in reinforcements or in waves, and they appear very rarely in the game, mainly when a Dire Guardian Lair is destroyed or achieves its building process. They are comparable in strength and size to Zenith Golems, a significant notch ahead of starships. They are all MkV units and there is no lower mark equivalent.
