Extremely powerful AI starship that specializes in destroying all traces of human civilization. This ship may spawn as part of an exogalactic strikeforce, may be added to Special Forces if the Hunter Plot is enabled, and is built by Hunter/Killer Factory Guard Post. |

How to counter when in the AI fleet
Hunter/Killers have a lot of strengths. They're fast, tough, immune to many large ship counters, and do a tremendous amount of damage to most fixed defenses. Their weaknesses are their short range and vulnerability to gravity effects. Build a lot of high-mark gravity turrets and a radar jammer mk 2 if possible.
When it comes to damaging them, the answer is Bombers. All the bombers. Cloaked mobile space docks to keep your bombers alive. Flagships can boost the firepower of your bombers, but in the end, bombers are the only easily available ship with bonuses against this hull type.
Alternatively, due to the ammo type and relatively low rate of fire, a single protector starship with a single counter-energy module could theoretically shut one of these down completely. (This isn't usually practical due to the other units that will also typically be attempting to kill you fleet, but some powerful units have Command-Grade 0 multipliers, meaning they could wipe out an entire wave except this unit. Also note that these modules have limited range, so you may need several to cover your whole fleet.)
